3 Palestinians killed by Israeli army in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — Three Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army in two incidents in the West Bank on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Two Palestinians were brought to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in Jenin after being shot in Kafr Dan, northwest of Jenin. Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on their vehicle and blocked Red Crescent medics from providing aid, resulting in their deaths, the ministry said.
Israeli forces are continuing their military operation in Jenin and its refugee camp for the fifth consecutive day. Troops have begun demolishing streets and commercial properties in downtown Jenin, Palestine’s official WAFA news agency reported. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army.
In a separate incident, the Health Ministry reported that 34-year-old Muhannad Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Aswad was killed by Israeli gunfire in Hebron. Israeli forces surrounded a house in the city, firing live ammunition and a shell, killing Al-Aswad, according to WAFA.
The IDF stated that forces encircled the residence searching for a suspect in a shooting attack earlier that morning. It confirmed the death of a militant at the scene and is investigating the incident.
Three Israeli police officers — a woman and two men — were killed in a shooting attack at the Tarqumiyah checkpoint in the southern West Bank. The gunmen arrived in a car, fired at a police vehicle, and fled the scene, according to the Israeli army.
Since Wednesday, Israel has conducted a large-scale raid across the northern West Bank, stating that the operation aims to prevent future attacks against Israel.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, more than 660 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks across the West Bank since the onset of the Palestine-Israel conflict in October 2023. ■
